Southport Attack Survivor's Parents Call for Action Against Online Influences and Knife Crime

The parents of a Southport attack survivor have urged stronger measures to protect teenage boys from harmful online influences, particularly the impact of controversial influencer Andrew Tate. Their daughter, referred to as Child A, was stabbed over 30 times by 17-year-old Axel Rudakubana in an attack that claimed the lives of three young girls.

During a Commons debate on knife crime, South Ribble MP Paul Foster read a statement from Child A’s parents, who supported tougher knife crime laws but emphasized the need for early education and "counter messaging" to challenge online radicalization.

The statement highlighted the role of online content in shaping young minds, referencing a separate case where convicted murderer Kyle Clifford was found to have watched Andrew Tate videos before carrying out a deadly attack.

The parents praised efforts to make knives harder to obtain but stressed that prevention must begin much earlier, focusing on raising children with better values. They also welcomed the upcoming public inquiry into the Southport attacks as a way to improve safety measures.

Rudakubana was sentenced to a minimum of 52 years in prison for the murders of three young girls and the attempted murders of multiple others.
