Oscar Piastri Claims First F1 Pole at Chinese Grand Prix


Oscar Piastri secured his maiden Formula 1 pole position at the Chinese Grand Prix, edging out Mercedes’ George Russell and McLaren teammate Lando Norris in a tight qualifying session. Piastri posted a best lap of 1m 30.641s, beating Russell by just under a tenth of a second.

Russell’s late push secured him a front-row start, while championship leader Norris settled for third. Defending champion Max Verstappen took fourth, ahead of Ferraris Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc in fifth and sixth, respectively.

Racing Bulls impressed, with Isack Hadjar qualifying seventh and Yuki Tsunoda ninth, while Mercedes’ Kimi Antonelli and Williams’ Alex Albon completed the top ten.
