With 19 points from seven games, Japan sits comfortably atop Group C in the Asian qualifiers, securing its eighth consecutive World Cup appearance.
Meanwhile, Australia moved closer to qualification with a dominant 5-1 win over Indonesia in its first match under new coach Patrick Kluivert.
